IN POLITICAL NEWS
1) So, I guess the David Letterman Rutabaga fundraiser is off. Rutabaga announced he won't seek reelection. Cankles has already come out to endorse Harris, as has the recent departee, Rutabaga. Apparently feeling the heat of some of the early state deadlines, so have all the DemoKKKrat bosses. Unfortunately for them, Harris is already doing worse in the swing states than Rutabaga. In this poll she, Newsome, Witless Protection all get their asses kicked. Currently Trump leads in the RCP average by 1.6, which is about a 1-point drop from Rutabaga. However, that's a honeymoon. I look for Cackles to drop back to his levels fairly soon.
2) .J. D. Vance, among others, has called for Rutabaga to resign from the presidency. I have no inside knowledge, but I would bet a steak dinner that part of the "deal" under which he agreed to resign as a candidate was specifically that they would not use the 25th Amendment to remove him.
3) It appears for now the DemoKKKrats are going with Harris, but Rutabaga cannot demand his delegates support her. If they don't on the first round, she is screwed, and that wouldn't be the first time. I still think they need to beat the OH ballot deadline of August 7 to be safe, but I've been wrong before. Here is the best discussion of the processes that Harris and whomever will go through.
4) Manchin-on-a-Hill at first said he was thinking of re-registering as a DemoKKKrat and running. Er, Joe, haven't you paid attention to the DemoKKKrat Party recently? You're about as welcome there as a turd in a punchbowl. They are total prog dicknipples. So 24 hours later he backed out.
5) Supposedly DemoKKKrat fundraising surged by $46 million after Rutabaga dropped. First, I don't believe that til the FEC confirms, but second, that's merely a good day for President Trump with fundraising. Note he has not spent hardly any of his money because Team Trump did not think Rutabaga could hang in. At any rate the New York Slimes doesn't think Harris can win. Oh, and none of the money raised for Biden/Harris or just Harris can be used for any other candidate.
6) RFK called the DNC a "Cabal." Bobby, you left the DemoKKKrat Party. What do you care?
7) A look at how the assassination attempt brought out the very best qualities of President Trump that many people had not seen before. Undaunted, President Trump and J.D. Vance went right out to hold a major rally in Michigan. Although Rutabaga won't be on the ticket now, the last poll out of MI showed Trump up 7. This is not going away with a worse candidate.
8) More evidence continues to appear on the assassin, whom it is now reported flew a drone over the Trump speech area, something thought to be prohibited by the Secret Service (as is taking a free shot at the President). Meanwhile there are new reports that the SS denied Trump's requests for additional agents. And President Trump himself says he was not warned prior to taking the stage about new security threats.
9) Now we have news that the Secret Service skipped a briefing about the Trump rally and that they weren't even planning to send snipers to the rally. SS Director Kim Cheatle has admitted "significant operational failures." Really? Shocked. Meanwhile Mayorkas appointed Trump-hater "bigfoot" Janet Napolitano to investigate the shortcomings. Can you say Earl Warren?
10) Hence, Little Natey Silver says "We're seeing Trump's numbers spike. Meanwhile RCP added Virginia to Trump's column for 323 electoral votes.
11) President Trump's acceptance speech was full of energy. No, I mean real energy policy, as David Blackmon points out.
12) Oh, the Trump campaign outraised Rutabaga by $100 million last quarter.
13) Bellarmine University fired a prof who said, If you're going to shoot at Trump, "don't miss."
14) One of the most hateful and destructive people ever to serve in Congress, Sheila Jackson Lee, has died at age 74.
15) A Dallas church pastored by Trump friend Robert Jeffries "mysteriously" caught fire Friday.
16) Mass shooters infrequently took their own lives prior to 1999. Previously the percentage was 23%. Now it's over 40%. Why the change? My son has an interesting take on this: prior to the internet, these people would not be "mass shooters" but serial killers such as the Son of Sam or Zodiac. But since the internet can out the identities of people so much more quickly, they never have the chance to act out their violent fantasies over long periods of time, hence they must do it all at once.

17) Ryan Burge shows a clear pattern that the more educated one gets, the less likely he is to firmly believe in the existence of God.

18) Elon Musk has deleted the so-called "security company" Crowdstrike from all systems. Great move.

19) Now trains in London have been hit with power outages and ticketing problems.
20) It appears the ChiComs are having sub troubles. This seems to be a new sub problem. If you recall, not long ago they had a sub catch fire in port.
21) David Blackmon notes that Ford has brought the EV bloodbath to Canada now.
22) Dementia cases have hit a record high in England. And Rutabaga is still here in America!
24) Australia's latest green implosion, hydrogen. Hydrogen "might" be feasible in 50 years with solid private sector research but it's not there in the near future.
25) German schoolchildren are converting to Islam out of fear. Well, why not? It worked for 800 years.
26) Bengladesh has a national curfew with "Shoot on sight" orders to police.

IN ENTERTAINMENT NEWS
28) "Twisters" racked up an impressive $80 million opening weekend. I plan to see this and rewatched the original "Twister" last night. A little corny, totally predictable, and often defied logic . . . but extremely fun. Bill Paxton was great as he was in everything. Sometimes we just need fun movies with no message. By the way, fewer people than ever are paying attention to the Hollywood bots as they now are dealing with the "Incredible Shrinking Press Tour."
29) Kevin Costner's epic "Horizon 2" has been pulled from theaters after the first one bombed.
30) Clint Eastwood's decade-long love interest, Christina Sandera, died at age 61.
31) Disneyland employees voted for a strike.
AND FINALLY. . .
Uber-pricey purse makers found that their bid to attract snooty buyer failed when they increased prices even more. This will certainly affect half of Rutabaga's male appointees.
